Calculate how much paint you need for trim and baseboard from total linear metres. Select trim type — baseboard, door casing, or window trim — for an accurate quantity estimate.
Part of the Surfaces & Finishes calculators — see all tools in this category.
This calculator estimates trim and baseboard paint quantity by converting linear metres of trim to effective painting area, then applying the standard semi-gloss coverage rate.
Formula: Effective Area = Length × Trim Width. Paint = (Effective Area × Coats) ÷ 9 m²/L × (1 + Waste %)
Note: This calculator uses a fixed semi-gloss rate of 9 m²/L. Trim quantities are much smaller than wall areas — the results will look different from area-based calculators, which is expected.
Paint Coverage Calculator
Calculate how many liters of paint you need for walls, ceilings, and trim using room dimensions, coat count, and standard coverage rates.
Room Paint Calculator
Calculate paint needed for a room by entering length, width, and height. Wall area auto-computed with L/gal toggle — no door or window counting required.
Exterior Paint Calculator
Estimate exterior paint quantity with a surface type selector for brick, wood, stucco, and render. Coverage rates adjusted per surface with L/gal toggle.
Paint Cost Calculator
Estimate total paint cost from quantity and price per liter or gallon. Includes coats, waste factor, and an itemized cost breakdown table.
Total linear metres of all trim runs combined
Measure each trim run and add them together. Include baseboard, door casing, and window trim as separate entries if using different trim types.
Standard baseboard — widest trim type — effective width 90mm
1–3 coats (2 is standard for trim)
Typical waste is 10% for trim painting
Baseboard (70–90mm), 2 coats
Linear metres × trim width
Semi-gloss standard
