How It Works

This calculator provides a quick paint estimate for room walls by computing the wall area automatically from your room dimensions.

  1. Measure your room: Enter length, width, and height in millimeters. A standard bedroom might be 4000mm × 3500mm × 2400mm.
  2. Select your paint type: Choose from 7 interior paint types. The coverage rate adjusts based on your selection — premium paints typically cover more area per litre.
  3. Set coats and waste: Two coats is standard. A 10% waste factor accounts for roller absorption, brush work, and touch-ups.
  4. Toggle L/gal: Switch the result between litres and US gallons. Your preference is saved across all paint calculators.

Formula: Wall Area = 2 × (Length + Width) × Height. Paint = (Wall Area × Coats) ÷ Coverage Rate × (1 + Waste %)

Note: This quick mode excludes ceiling, doors, and windows. For a full calculation with all surfaces and opening deductions, use the Paint Coverage Calculator.
