How It Works

This calculator estimates paint quantity for exterior walls by applying surface-specific coverage rates to your total wall area.

  1. Enter wall area: Measure your total exterior wall area in square meters. For a rectangular building: 2 × (length + width) × height. Subtract windows and doors if desired.
  2. Select surface type: Choose from Brick (5 m²/L), Wood (9 m²/L), Stucco (7 m²/L), or Render (8 m²/L). The coverage rate adjusts automatically based on surface texture.
  3. Set coats and waste: Two coats is standard for exterior. A 10% waste factor accounts for roller absorption and overspray.
  4. Toggle L/gal: Switch between litres and US gallons. Your preference is saved across all paint calculators.

Formula: Paint = (Area × Coats) ÷ Coverage Rate × (1 + Waste %)
