Wallpaper Roll Calculator

Turn individual wall measurements into straight- or half-drop drops, repeat-aware cut lengths and wall-specific whole-roll orders.

Part of the Surfaces & Finishes calculators — see all tools in this category.

Wallpaper roll estimate

Lay out straight- or half-drop-match wallpaper as wall-specific drops, then see the whole-roll quantity without pooling partial drops between walls.

Measurement system
Walls

Every wall is an independent roll-order line; partial drops are not pooled. Switching units only changes display values, never these physical measurements.

Enter usable dimensions from the selected product label. No allowance is applied: trim and match are the only refinements before whole-roll rounding.

Net drops cover wall width before stock rounding. Trim is added once to each drop; straight match then rounds each cut to the next full pattern repeat. There is no allowance control in this worksheet. Each wall rounds to whole rolls separately, so ordered rolls can contain unused capacity and cannot be reduced by pooling partial drops across walls. Blank roll prices are incomplete purchase lines, not $0.

Warnings
  • Straight-match policy: each cut drop is rounded up to the next whole pattern repeat after trim is added.
  • Each wall is rounded to whole rolls independently; partial drops and usable roll lengths are not pooled between walls.
  • Free-match and other policies are not calculated because they need separately documented cutting rules.

How it works and assumptions

Add every wall separately, enter the selected roll's usable width and length, and state trim, repeat and match policy. The calculator counts drops by wall width, rounds each cut to the selected repeat rule, and then rounds each wall to whole rolls.

For finish-planning context, see the live Surfaces & Finishes Guide and the practical Measure & Order Trim and Wallpaper guide.

Worked example

The calculator's assumptions panel includes a separate 3.1 m × 2.2 m straight-match example, distinct from the UAT fixture, so you can inspect the cut and roll-rounding order.
