Net length is the measured run or perimeter minus only openings eligible for that trim type, multiplied by courses. The allowance increases that demand before ordering. Purchased quantity is then rounded up to whole stock pieces for each run, so it can exceed both net and pre-stock ordered length. Offcuts are not reused or pooled, and profiles never merge. Blank local prices remain incomplete, unpriced purchase lines—not $0. Opening, finishing, fasteners, labour, delivery, tax and all installation scope are excluded.
- Cut/offcut convention: every run is cut and rounded to whole stock pieces independently; offcuts are not reused or pooled.
- Net length subtracts only opening deductions eligible for that trim type; allowance is applied before per-run stock rounding.
- Each run and trim profile remains a separate order line, even when physical dimensions match.

How it works and assumptions
Add each trim run separately and choose either a direct measurement or a room perimeter. Select the trim type and profile, enter compatible stock length, courses, allowance and any eligible opening deduction. The calculator keeps every run as an independent whole-stock order line.
For broader finish-planning context, use the live Surfaces & Finishes Guide and the practical Measure & Order Trim and Wallpaper guide.
Worked example
The calculator includes a separate 3.4 m run example in its assumptions panel, deliberately different from the four-run UAT fixture, to show the order of deductions, allowance and stock rounding.
