How It Works

This calculator helps you determine how many bags of self-leveling compound to purchase for floor preparation, automatically adjusting coverage based on your actual pour depth.

  1. Enter floor area to be leveled: Input the total area in square feet that needs to be leveled. Measure length times width for rectangular rooms.
  2. Enter desired pour depth: Input the depth in inches. Common depths are 1/8" (0.125) for minor leveling, 1/4" (0.25) for moderate unevenness, and 1/2" (0.5) for significant variations.
  3. Enter product yield from bag: Check your product label for coverage specs. Default is 40 sq ft per 50 lb bag at 1/8" depth. Most products list coverage at a specific reference depth.
  4. Calculator adjusts yield automatically: The calculator scales coverage based on your actual depth versus the reference depth. Deeper pours = less coverage per bag.
  5. View bags needed: See total bags required including your selected waste factor. Warning appears if depth exceeds typical self-leveling limits.

Formula: Adjusted Yield = Reference Yield × (Reference Depth ÷ Actual Depth)
Bags Needed = Floor Area ÷ Adjusted Yield × (1 + Waste%)
