How It Works

This calculator converts gravel volume to weight using the bulk density of your selected aggregate material.

  1. Enter volume: The total volume of gravel in cubic meters (m³).
  2. Select material: Choose your aggregate type. Each material has a specific bulk density — from lightweight scoria (0.8 t/m³) to heavy road base (2.0 t/m³).
  3. Toggle weight unit: Switch between kg and lbs using the unit toggle. The metric tonne result is always shown as a secondary value.

Formula: Weight (tonnes) = Volume (m³) × Density (t/m³)

Example: 10 m³ of 20mm gravel (1.8 t/m³) = 18 tonnes = 18,000 kg = 39,683 lbs
