Flooring Removal & Disposal Calculator

Estimate solid flooring layers, loose debris, mass, whole disposal loads, and optional local costs while keeping each material and destination explicit.

Part of the Excavation & Earthworks calculators — see all tools in this category.

Flooring removal and disposal estimate

Turn measured floor layers into solid volume, loose debris, mass, destination-specific loads, and optional local costs.

Measurement system
Floor sections

Enter the measured plan area for each independently measured floor section. Layers can share a section only when they occupy the same area.

Material layers

Density and loose factor belong to each layer. Assign every layer to a declared compatible disposal destination; unlike materials are never averaged.

Compatible destinations and optional costs

Use an actual destination’s effective fill volume and payload, not a nominal container size. Rates are USD supplier inputs: blank means not priced, while zero is a valid entered rate.

Net removal is the measured solid flooring volume and its mass. Loose debris applies the entered layer factor only to container space, never to mass. Ordered/purchased disposal is whole loads: each named destination rounds volume and payload independently, then uses the higher count. Optional disposal and haul prices stay incomplete when blank; a blank line is not treated as free. This excludes sorting, hazardous waste, labour, permits, transport restrictions, taxes, and any unlisted scope.

Warnings
  • Solid density is retained per material layer and is never averaged across mixed materials.
  • Loose debris factors change disposal volume only; they never change calculated mass.
  • Loads are calculated separately for each explicitly named compatible disposal destination, using the larger volume- or payload-limited count.

How it works and assumptions

Measure each floor section by area, then add every removable layer with its own thickness, supplier/project density, and loose-debris factor. Send each layer to a named compatible disposal destination rather than averaging mixed materials.

Use the flooring removal and disposal planning guide to prepare compatible waste streams, supplier quote inputs, and field checks; the broader Excavation & Earthworks Guide covers related hauling context. Neither link transfers calculator inputs or creates an export; confirm the hauler’s actual acceptance, capacity, payload, and price.

Worked example

The calculator contains an independent synthetic 10 m² example: a 20 mm layer at 1,000 kg/m³ and loose factor 2 yields 0.2 m³ solid, 200 kg, 0.4 m³ loose debris, and two 0.3 m³ loads.
