Roof Flashing & Trim Calculator

Keep each compatible roof trim run visible, then review its layout coverage, whole-piece order and price status.

Part of the Roofing & Structure calculators — see all tools in this category.

Roof flashing and trim estimate

Turn separate ridge, rake, eave, valley, and abutment runs into transparent whole-piece orders using the compatible product profile and its entered lap.

Measurement system
Separate flashing and trim runs

Enter each physical run separately. Its measured length, selected stock, and lap affect its layout; allowance affects only its final purchased-piece count. Do not combine profiles or assume offcuts can move between runs.

Result

Current result

Order 4 whole flashing or trim pieces.

Measured runs
1 separate physical line
After-lap layout need
4 whole pieces
Actual purchased stock
4 whole pieces
Installed layout coverage
11.4 m

Measured length first becomes a whole-piece layout after the entered laps. The percentage allowance then increases that already rounded layout once, producing the actual purchased stock. No offcuts are pooled, including between equal sizes or different profiles. A price is USD per purchased piece; blank means unpriced, not $0.

Warnings
  • Each run is cut and rounded independently. Offcuts are not pooled between runs or trim profiles.
  • Profile identity is preserved on every purchase line; incompatible trim profiles are never merged.

How it works and assumptions

Add ridge, rake, eave, valley or abutment runs separately. For each run, identify the compatible trim profile, enter its measured length, selected stock length and end lap, then add any purchase allowance after the whole-piece layout is known. The result preserves each profile and run as an independent purchase line.

Use the Roof Waterproofing & Flashing Takeoff Guide to keep membrane zones and compatible profile runs separate. Confirm profile compatibility and all product/system decisions with current manufacturer and project documentation.

Worked example

The calculator starts with a separate 10 m eave example so you can check the four-piece order and overlap coverage before entering project measurements.
