How It Works

For Thinset (Tile)

  1. 1. Enter the tile area

Measure your total tile area in square meters. Include all walls and floors that will be tiled.

  2. 2. Select your trowel notch size

Larger notches deposit more thinset, reducing coverage per bag but ensuring better tile adhesion.

  3. 3. Choose tile back surface

Textured tile backs use approximately 15% more thinset to fill the ridges and ensure proper bonding.

  4. 4. View bags needed

Results include your waste factor to ensure you have enough material for the job.

For Mortar (Brick)

  1. 1. Enter the wall area

Measure your brick wall area in square meters. This is the visible face area of the wall.

  2. 2. Select joint thickness

Standard is 10mm. Thicker joints (12mm) use more mortar but provide a rustic look.

  3. 3. Adjust waste percentage

10% is typical for most projects. Increase for complex walls or irregular brick sizes.

  4. 4. View bags and bricks covered

See both bags needed and approximate number of bricks this will cover.

Coverage Rate Explained

Coverage rates are based on 25kg bags of standard-grade products. Premium or modified thinsets may have different coverage. Always check manufacturer specifications for your specific product. The waste factor accounts for normal spillage, dropped material, and application variations.
