How it works and assumptions
For Thinset (Tile)
- 1. Enter the tile area
Measure your total tile area in square meters. Include all walls and floors that will be tiled.
- 2. Select your trowel notch size
Larger notches deposit more thinset, reducing coverage per bag but ensuring better tile adhesion.
- 3. Choose tile back surface
Textured tile backs use approximately 15% more thinset to fill the ridges and ensure proper bonding.
- 4. View bags needed
Results include your waste factor to ensure you have enough material for the job.
For Mortar (Brick)
- 1. Enter the wall area
Measure your brick wall area in square meters. This is the visible face area of the wall.
- 2. Select joint thickness
Standard is 10mm. Thicker joints (12mm) use more mortar but provide a rustic look.
- 3. Adjust waste percentage
10% is typical for most projects. Increase for complex walls or irregular brick sizes.
