Brick and mortar estimate

Measure a single-wythe brick face, subtract rectangular openings, and keep theoretical, ordered, installed-face, and priced quantities distinct.

Quick estimate

Measure the wall face, choose the mortar method, and use the editable current default brick dimensions until a project requires refinement.

Current default brick and joint values: 0.6561679790026247 × 0.19685039370078738 × 0.32808398950131235 ft; 0.03280839895013123 horizontal and 0.03280839895013123 vertical joints. These are editable planning defaults, not a manufacturer preset.

Brick, joint, allowance, and mortar settings

Replace the planning defaults with the actual brick, joint, allowance, and product-coverage values when needed.

Optional inputs not included: Custom brick dimensions, Joint dimensions, Allowances, Mortar yield or coverage.

Openings

Optional openings use bottom-left offsets from the wall edge. They must fit the wall and cannot overlap.

Optional inputs not included: Rectangular openings.

Optional editable local prices

Optional inputs not included: Local brick and mortar prices.

How it works and assumptions

Measure the exposed single-wythe wall face and subtract only rectangular openings that fit within it. Enter the actual brick dimensions and the horizontal and vertical joints; nominal brick sizes are not a substitute for those measurements.

Choose one mortar ordering method. Geometric volume estimates periodic face-area mortar and then rounds the entered product yield to whole bags. Product brick-count coverage instead uses a verified bricks-per-bag value for the exact brick, joint, and mortar. The two methods do not combine.

This is an estimating tool, not a structural specification or brick-by-brick laying plan. Confirm selected product coverage, local code, wall details, and final quantities with the project documents and supplier.
